A May 21, 2026 review of the probation compliance by Cristy Cribbs, former secretary at Washington Attendance Center in Carmi, with the Offender Initiative Program has resulted in her release from the two year probation requirement a year early. The request for her release by Special Prosecutor Philip Butler was made yesterday in White County court and today an order releasing Cribbs was signed by Judge William Thurston and received at the courthouse. The order releases Ms. Cribbs from her 24 month probation agreement.
Cribbs faced a possible four to 15 years in prison and excessive fines on the charge of Theft, a Class 1 Felony. At the time, Attorney Butler said there were other details of the case that he could not make public yet in case he did need to go to trial in the matter.
