The main event of the Carmi White County school board meeting last night was a transportation report given by Will Knight who oversees that department. All board members were in attendance as Knight gave an update on the district’s vehicles, citing loan status, age, and condition. In the end, he said some of the vehicles needed to be moved out of the fleet and sold or retired. After hearing his recommendations, the board gave its agreement for Knight to seek bids for three new vehicles:
- a 10 passenger transit van, which would replace van 10,a 2019 vehicle which needs 15,000 in repairs and has 78,000 miles on it ;
- a seven passenger van for driver's ed that would replace car # two;
- an activity bus to replace a 1999 suburban, which is at the end of its activity life.
