Michael Hillegas Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Makes Donation to the Veterans Honor Flight 06 of Southern Illinois

This year Veterans Chairman, Shelia Albright, decided to hold a rummage sale to raise funds to help local veterans make the trip to D.C. With the assistance of her Veteran’s Committee, several items were collected, along with other monies donated by DAR Daughters and friends. Their efforts raised $650, that was then donated to the Honor Flight.
The Veterans’ Committee was so excited to learn that their donation this time would be used to fund the guardian for one gentleman from another part of Southern Illinois who has no family. His caregiver's expenses will now be covered and she can also become his guardian on the flight. This is the first time we knew just how much our donation helped a specific veteran. How wonderful! We hope to be at the airport to welcome him home on his return flight on October 1!
