Matthew Thomas Gaudern, of Carmi, was arrested Wednesday after a complaint was filed against him for making a threat on his sister’s life. Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Wicker was dispatched to Stewart Street to investigate. Gaudern’s sister Loren Schultz alleged that Gaudern came to the home after being involved in an argument with her boyfriend Josiah Stover. She stated Gaudern told her she needed to leave the home, which belonged to her grandmother, and that he threatened to kill her. Another witness in the home confirmed that Gaudern did make the statement, even though he denied it. Schultz signed a complaint against her brother and he was arrested on the scene with the assistance of Carmi Police officers Beam and Malone. Gaudern is charged with Domestic Violance and Assault.
