William C. Walker, 39 of Enfield, was arrested on a new warrant yesterday after he appeared in White County court on DUI, Transportation of Alcohol, and other traffic charges.
Lige K. Cheek, 50 of Enfield, was arrested by White County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Brown yesterday at Burrell Street and Martin Drive in Carmi after the Deputy Brown observed a black 2010 Chevrolet Equinox traveling eastbound on Oak St. that failed to signal when turning left onto Burrell. Deputy Brown initiated a traffic stop and found that the vehicle registration was suspended for a non-insurance violation. A Carmi officer joined in the stop. [Read more...]
Dakota J. Goodwin, 28 of Carmi was arrested on January 11 by White County Sheriff's Deputy Trey Simmons and two U.S. Marshalls. The Marshalls joined Deputy Simmons at 1116 CR 675 E., Carmi to ascertain his whereabouts. The officers found a camper, a garage and a storage unit at the location. Tara Fitzgerald was found on the premises and officers requested information about Goodwin. Goodwin exited the camper with his hands up. He was handcuffed and informed there were active arrest warrants out of White County. He also was informed there was a DOC hold warrant on him (DX 2307613). [Read more...]

Roy W. Tipton 55 of Equality was arrested on a traffic stop on December 30 and booked into White County Jail for a White County Failure to Appear warrant 2021-CF-15 (Unlawful Use of Weapon), Saline County Warrant 2021 CF000322 (Violation of Probation Dangerous Drugs), Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operation of Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by Driver, and Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition by Felon. Jennie Woodrow, 39 of Norris City, was arrested by White County Sheriff’s deputy Ethan Jones after he responded to a call to dispatch that she wanted to speak to the Sheriff’s department about a vehicle theft she had previously reported. [Read more...]
Carmi Police began investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries from 12/06/23 through 12/08/23. During these burglaries, numerous unlocked vehicles were ransacked and items were taken. Most items taken from the unlocked vehicles consisted of cash, knives, and handguns. There were no vehicles entered that were locked and only unlocked vehicles were entered. After compiling numerous home video surveillance footage and business footage throughout the time frames of the thefts, Police were able to develop a suspect. [Read more...]
Zion Methodist Church Break-in
On November 4, White County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Malone was advised of a burglary report from Zion Methodist Church at 1774 County Road 1150 E., Carmi. A trustee from the church had notified Michael James of Carmi about a break in that occurred at the church and James called law enforcement. The back door of the church had been found wide open on Friday morning 11/3.
Thirty-five-year-old Justin Dale Pierce of Enfield was arrested on September 15 regarding two felony warrants of 2017CF70 and 2022CF209. Pierce was arrested at the junction of Highway 45 and Rte 14 after Deputy Matt Wicker observed him in a red Ford Expedition with loud exhaust traveling northbound on Highway 45.
