The U.S. Marshals were on hand to assist in the arrest of Michael A. Turpin on Thursday after Turpin barricaded himself in his residence in Grayville. Turpin was wanted in White County for Unlawful Use of Property, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sheckles violates order of protection
Christopher A. Sheckles, 19 of Crossville, was arrested on Wednesday for violating an order of protection after he appeared at a home on 607 Morell St. in Crossville and refused to leave. Deputies Trey Simmons and Matt Wicker investigated the complaint. This was the third time in two days that the complainant, Kasandra M. Sheckles, of 207 W. Rudolph St., Crossville, who had the order of protection against her son, had contacted authorities. The order of protection bans Sheckles from being within 500 feet of the protected. Two Domestic Disturbances on Saturday Night
White County Sheriff's Deputy Trey Simmons was dispatched to 1118 Valter Drive in Carmi on Saturday regarding a domestic dispute and was assisted by Carmi Police. Upon arrival, officers heard screaming inside the residence. Police spoke with Tosha Rankin,37. Melinda Rankin, 55 was present and told police that William Browning, 45 of Carmi, had run out the door. Police observed Tosha had a cut that was drawing blood above her right eye. Officers exited the residence to locate Browning who they found lying underneath a vehicle in the driveway. He was ordered out from the hiding place, cuffed, and detained. [Read more...]

Three served warrants while in White County Jail
Matthew D. Swift, 39 of Grayville, was served a warrant for Failure to appear for DWLR 2+ on March 11 while he was incarcerated in the White County Jail. Deputy Simmons served him with the warrant.
Roger D. McGuire, 46 of Eldorado, was served a warrant for Failure to Appear by Deputy Michael Brown on Mar 12 while he was in the White County Jail on a Saline County warrant. The new warrant was from White County.
Benjamin J.L Steele, 18 of New Haven. was served a warrant for Aggravated Battery (Strong Arm non family member on public way) on Mar 14 by Deputy George Spence. [Read more...]
Man Wanted on Warrant for Resisting Police Resists Re-Arrest
White County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Brown observed Chalon D. Phelps, of Crossville, standing next to a blue Jeep passenger car on 2550 N. at 2060 E. in Grayville, Ill. on March 4 and knew him to be wanted on a White County warrant for Resisting. Phelps was advised by Officer Brown about the warrant, and became upset, stating he had taken care of the warrant. Phelps then resisted being arrested by Officer Brown, but finally was placed in cuffs. [Read more...]

Disorderly conduct complaint filed
Mary Stanley,42 of Mills Shoals, signed a complaint for Disorderly Conduct against Cheryl L. York, also of Mill Shoals last weekend after York got “in her face” and began swearing at her. Sheriff’s Deputy Trey Simmons investigated. Rachel Stover, 52 of Mill Shoals and daughter of York, confirmed events to the deputy. Stover and Stanley both signed statements regarding the incident. Carmi Man Charged with Assault and Domestic Violence
Matthew Thomas Gaudern, of Carmi, was arrested Wednesday after a complaint was filed against him for making a threat on his sister’s life. Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Wicker was dispatched to Stewart Street to investigate. Gaudern’s sister Loren Schultz alleged that Gaudern came to the home after being involved in an argument with her boyfriend Josiah Stover. She stated Gaudern told her she needed to leave the home, which belonged to her grandmother, and that he threatened to kill her. Another witness in the home confirmed that Gaudern did make the statement, even though he denied it. Schultz signed a complaint against her brother and he was arrested on the scene with the assistance of Carmi Police officers Beam and Malone. Gaudern is charged with Domestic Violance and Assault.
