Gary Joe Nelson, 78 of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Friday, July 10, 2026 at his residence.  He was born June 16, 1948 in Vicker’s Hospital a son of Carl and Mary (Gunter) Nelson. 

Visitation for Gary Nelson will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, with the funeral service following.  Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, McLeansboro, with Speakers Reverend Jacob Gray, David Guage and Tucker Braden officiating.    

Military Honors will be accorded by The National Honor Guard and American Legion Post 106.

Roger Lynn Barnett, Mt. Vernon, IL

Roger Lynn Barnett, 66, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born on July 23, 1959 in Illmo (Scott City), Missouri, to Gene and Arlene Barnett. 

A celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Sunday, September 6^th, 2026 with visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, Illinois.  The burial of ashes will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McLeansboro,Illinois. Harre Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Gloria Grimes, Odin

Gloria Darlene Grimes 84, of Odin, Ill. passed away Saturday, June 13 at Odin Health Care in Odin.  Gloria was born May 15, 1942 in Vienna, Ill.  She was a daughter of Paul Hastings and Lily (Hester) Hastings. Justin Tennison, McLeansboro

Justin Keith Tennison 69, of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Monday, June 15 2026 at his residence.  Justin was born January 23, 1957 in St. Charles, Illinois.  He was a son of Bobby Lee Tennison and Mary Lou (Ragsdale) Tennison.

Donna Roper, McLeansboro

Donna Jeaninee Roper, age 81 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at her residence. Donna was born July 3, 1944 in West Frankfort, Ill. to Franklin Curlee and Patricia Jean Armstrong.

Visitation for Donna Roper will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro,  with speaker Mark McDaniels officiating. Donna will be cremated as per her request and a private burial of ashes with her family will be at a later date.

Velma Webb, Eldorado

Velma J. Webb, 88, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026 in Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare, Eldorado, ll.  Velma was born September 27, 1937 in Bartelso, IL.  Velma was a daughter of William “Bub” and Bernest (Marshall) Brown. 

There will be a graveside service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2026 with Reverend Doctor Ken Cook officiating.

Larry Thomas "Tom" Hart, Dahlgren

Surrounded by his loving family, Larry Thomas "Tom" Hart, 74, of Dahlgren, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2026. Tom was born on August 26, 1951 in Dahlgren, Illinois, to Arza and Helen Hart.

 Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3,2026 at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, Ill.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4 at 11:00 am at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro.  Burial will follow at Richardson Hill Cemetery in Dahlgren, Illinois. John R. Mehalek, 80, of Dahlgren, Ill.. passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Deaconess Midtown, Evansville, Indiana. John was born June 30, 1945 in Thermopolis, Wyoming a son of John Albert Mehalek and Dorothy (Branscom) Mehalek.

Patricia Dial, McLeansboro

Patricia Ann Dial, age 79 of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Friday, May 8, 2026 at her residence. Pat was born in Karbers Ridge, Ill. on December 8, 1946.  She was a daughter of Quentin Patterson and Laverne (Ledbetter) Patterson.

.Visitation for Pat will be Sunday, May 10, 2026 from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL. Funeral services were held on Sumday, May 10 officated by Clergy Randall Ragan and Andy May. Burial followed the service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, McLeansboro.

Ann Marie Burke, McLeansboro

Surrounded by family, Ann Marie (Karcher) Burke, 67, of McLeansboro, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.  After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Ann faced her illness with remarkable strength, grace and dignity. Ann was born on April 6, 1959, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to Clarence and Wilma Karcher.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 15th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, Illinois. An additional visitation will be held Saturday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Enfield, Illinois followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Fellowship meal to follow at the Big Red Barn in McLeansboro. Eli Hook, McLeansboro

Eli Hook, Jr., age 92 of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 2, 1934, in Gray Ridge, Missouri, the son of Eli Hook, Sr. and Edna McKean Hook.  He was also lovingly raised by Ruth Durea Hook.  All preceded him in death.

Visitation and funeral service for Eli Hook were held Tuesday April 21, 2026 at 1^st General Baptist Church, McLeansboro with Bob Brocket officiating.  Burial was in  Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro. Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nettie Bayler, 88 of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 at Silver Foxes Nursing Home and Rehab, McLeansboro. Nettie was born July 30, 1937 in Thackery, Ill., to Walter Ledford ad Frieda (Tittle) Ledford.

Visitation for Nettie Bayler will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 202, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro with Pastor Chris Marsh officiating.  Burial will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.

Gilbert Kent Karcher, Washington, Illinois

Gilbert Kent Karcher, 67, passed away on April 4, 2026, at home, surrounded by his wife, daughters, and son-in-law, after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was born on November 25, 1958, in McLeansboro, Ill. to Gilbert and Pauline (Dolan) Karcher.

Visitation for Kent Karcher will be held Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis, Ill. Thomas E. Smith 81, of McLeansboro, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Silver Fox Senior Living and Rehab in McLeansboro.  Thomas was born August 14, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa to Noel Smith and Margaret L. (Cross) Smith.

Juanita Mae Beckwith, 89 of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Ill. Juanita was born in Obi, New York on July 2, 1936 to Clark David Beckwith and Florence (Davidson) Beckwith.

Memorials are requested for St. Jude Children’s Research.

Delores Van Norman, 81 of McLeansboro, Ill. went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2026.  She was born on September 5, 1944 in Flora, Ill. to John and Edna Bradley.

Merrill Richard Upchurch, Dahlgren

Merrill Richard Upchurch, 76, a resident of Dahlgren, Ill. passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, McLeansboro, Ill.  Merrill was born April 8, 1949 in Mt. Vernon, Ill.  He was a son of Charles Upchurch and Nada (McNair) Upchurch. a Tucker.

Janis Kay Mitchell, 70, of Mt. Vernon, Ill. passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at SSM, Mt. Vernon, Ill.  Janis was born February 7, 1956 in McLeansboro, Ill.  She was a daughter of Jack Thomas and Mary Jo (Lenard) Thomas.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 6, 2026 at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a service conducted by Paster Thad Galloway.   A spreading of ashes will be held by the family at a later date. Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nell and Donald Harrawood, formerly of McLeansboro

Nell and Donald Harrawood passed away in El Paso, Texas.  Nell passed away August 21, 2025 and Donald passed away December 1, 2023.  Nell was a daughter of Moses and Julia Mayberry.  Donald was a son of Daye and Florence Harrawood.  Nell and Donald were married July 4, 1950 in McLeansboro, IL.

A funeral service for Nell and Donald Harrawood will be held at 11:00 a.m., March 7, 2026 at Dale Community Church, Dale, Ill. with Pastor Rodney Brock officiating.   A burial of ashes will follow at Digby Hill Cemetery, Dale.  The church doors will be open at 10:30 a.m.

Elva Jane (Tucker) Walker, Murray, KY

Elva Jane (Tucker) Walker, 87, of Murray, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray.  Born November 23, 1938, in Dale, Illinois, Elva was the daughter of the late George Edward Tucker and Grace Ellen (Wheeler) Tucker.

  On Friday, March 6, 2026, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, Illinois, with Rev. Danny Walker officiating. Rodney Everett Wallace, 79 of Dahlgren, Ill. passed away at 5:45 a.m., January 17, 2026 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ill.  He was born in McLeansboro, Ill. on July 24, 1946, son of Everett Henry and Vera Evelyn (Bishop) Wallace.

Lawrence E. Unfried 78, of Belle Rive, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at Linda White Hospice, Evansville, Indiana.  Larry was born June 29, 1947 in McLeansboro, Ill.  He was a son of Joseph Unfried and Frances Mary (Baumann) Unfried.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Eugene Unfried.

Robert Joe “Bob” Wilson, age 71, of McLeansboro, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by loved ones on December 22, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, Illinois. Bob was born on March 9, 1954, in McLeansboro, Illinois, to Lee and Dana (Storey) Wilson.

Flo Ann Hart, age 86 of McLeansboro Ill. passed away Thursday , November 27^th at Deaconess Hospital, Marion Ill. She was Born October 24,1939 in Aden Il,l. a daughter of George Normal and Mary Mariah (Wilson) Rednon.

William S.Cannon, Jr., 82 of McLeansboro, Ill.. passed away 10:04 Aa.m. Tuesday November 25, 2025.  “Billy” was born March 2, 1943 in Madison, Indiana.  He was a son of William Cannon SR. and Audrey (Horton) Cannon.

With the support of a loving family, Clem passed away on November 18, 2025 at his home near Dahlgren, IL.  He was 85 years old. Clemens John Aydt was born on December 9, 1939 to Clemens J. N. and Frances H. (Nice) both of Dahlgren. 

A funeral mass was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis, Ill. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.,  officiated by Father Slawomir Ptak.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.  Harre Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lowell Huffstutler, McLeansboro

Lowell Thomas Huffstutler, 83, a longtime resident of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed from this life on October 25, 2025.

He was born on February 15, 1942, in Hamilton County, Illinois, to Calvin Paul and Samantha Frances (Tennyson) Huffstutler. He was raised in McLeansboro, where he developed lifelong friendships and a deep love for his community.

Warren Stacy Johnson, 63 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Linda White Hospices Center in Evansville, Indiana.  Warren was born March 13, 1962 in Eldorado, Illinois.  He was a son of Franklin (Junior) and Helen Johnson.  

When Warren was 19 years old, he suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident, he lived with his parents assisting each other until their passing and will now rejoin them at Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton, Ill. at 11:00 a.m. on June 2, 2025.

Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Lemmon, 77, of Tullahoma, Tenn. passed away December 29, 2024, surrounded by family at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born August 28, 1947 to James Irvin and Helen Ruth (Hutchcraft) Lemmon in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Emma Maxine (Clark) Brake, age 94, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Wabash Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Carmi, Illinois in White County. Gabriel Layne Mills Lakin, 22 years old, left this Earth on his own terms on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was the proud son of Glenda Mills and Travis Lakin, whom he loved both dearly.

Gabriel had a multicultural background. In accordance with Sablan family tradition a vigil will be held at Gabriel’s home from Sunday March 16, 2025 night until Friday March 21, 2025 morning. Paul Eugene Becker 92, of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Evansville, Indiana. Paul was born March 23, 1932 in McLeansboro.  He was a son of Tony Eldo Becker and Helen Madeline (Gidcumb) Becker.

Anna Mae Weatherholtz, age 83, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, McLeansboro, Ill. Anna was born January 24, 1941 in Belle Prairie, IL.  She was the daughter of Bill Bennett and Myrtle (Koker) Bennett.

Sharon Dawn Curtis, 68 of McLeansboro Ill., passed away peacefully early Friday morning November 29, at home, in the company of her loving family and Pastor concluding a long and difficult battle with brain cancer. Sharon was born October 16, 1956 the daughter of Donlee Glenn (Gene) Willis and Wanda Vaughn.

Following her wishes, she will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Dale Community Church, and her ashes will be entombed at Marys Chapel Church Cemetery. Ivan went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2024, he was 72 years old. Born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., and experienced his early childhood in rural Boyd, Ill.  He was proceeded in death by his wife Pam of 45 years, step-father Clifford Ervin, his mother Bessie (Burgett) Ervin and his sister Judy.

George Robert (Jug) Parks, 85, of Creal Springs, Ill., passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in the ICU at Carbondale Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Ill.  George was born, June 15, 1939 in Creal Springs, the son of Barnie Wilson and Evelyn (Holmes) Parks.

Wilma Rose Tolley, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Evansville, Indiana, for her spirit to be with the Lord. She was born and raised in McLeansboro, IL., before relocating to Evansville where she has lived for the past 72 years. Wilma was born to Thelma and Fred Baker.

William E. Luffman, Sr. “Elroy”, 84 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away at 9:17 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at White Oak Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Ill. William was born November 19, 1939 in Bumpus Mills, Tennessee to Willie Raymond Luffman and Eddie Anna (Massey) Luffman.

Mary Ann Pearson, 74 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away at 7:05 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. Mary was born July 17, 1949 to Emery Vernon Frazier and May Roaslie (Scott) in Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Hobert Johnson Campbell, Jr.

Hobert Campbell, Jr., 85 of Macedonia, Ill., passed away at 12:20 p.m.Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Silver Foxes Senior Living & Rehab Center in McLeansboro. Hobert was born March 29, 1938 in Franklin County, Ill. to Hobert Johnson Campbell, Sr. and Mary Victoria (Nagreski) Campbell.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro. Pastor Jacob Gray officiated and burial was in Macedonia Cemetery, in Macedonia. Military Rites by American Legion Post 106 and Military Honor Team of Marion, Ill. were accorded.  Masonic Rites were also accorded by the Macedonia Masonic Lodge # 1128 and the Macedonia Eastern Star Chapter 1028.

Estell Hunter, McLeansboro

Estell Hunter, 89 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro, Ill. on Friday, January 26, 2024. Estell was born February 17, 1934 in Sneedville, Tenn. to William Moles & Nellie (Barnard ) Moles.

In accordance with her wishes, a graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Blooming Grove Cemetery on Friday February 2 at 11a.m. followed by a meal for the family at the home of her brother Willie Moles. Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Leo Wellen, 89 of Piopolis, Ill. went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family. Paul was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Paul was born March 23, 1934 in Belle City, Ill., the son of Andrew and Isabella (Karcher) Wellen.

Wilma Willis, 90 of McLeansboro, Ill. , passed away at 7:45 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023 at The Silver Foxes Senior Living & Rehab Center in McLeansboro. Wilma was born July 21, 1933 in McLeansboro to Alva Bennett and Freda (Smith) Bennett.

Rolla Joe Trout, 70 of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 as the result of an automobile accident. Joe was born in McLeansboro to James R. and Marguerite (Mendenhall) Trout.

Randy Stover, Benton

Randy Stover, 65 years of age and a resident of Benton, Ill.,  passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. Randy was born September 26, 1958 in McLeansboro, Ill. to Danny Paul  and Martha Ann (Robertson) Stover.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the medical expenses of the members of the Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church missions team who were injured on the mission trip with Randy. The memorials should be made to Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted by the church.

David Allen Golden, 64 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023. David was born October 19, 1958 in Torence, Calif. to Everett Golden and Mary (Fischer) Golden.

Visitation hours will be held for the public from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Freedom Baptist Church, McLeansboro. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023 also at Freedom Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Moore officiating.

Interment of Ashes will be conducted at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, County Rd. 200 East, Norris City, Ill. with Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro in charge of arrangements. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army Military Honor Team of Marion, Ill.;  The American Legion Post 224 and VFW Post 3851 of Carmi, Ill.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s honor to the Veterans Association. A reception will follow at Freedom Baptist Church for family and friends.

Phyllis Jean (Pemberton) Greer              

Phyllis Jean Pemberton Greer, 94 of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at River Pointe Health Campus. She was born on June 2, 1929, in McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of Russell and Lula Mae (Elder) Pemberton.

Upon her wishes, Phyllis requested cremation.  A Memorial Service will be held at Grand Avenue Christian Church, 1305 E. Grand Ave Carbondale, Ill., on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Reverends Matt Proctor and Jerry Kizzire will officiate. A graveside interment of ashes will be planned for a later date at I. O. O. F. Cemetery in McLeansboro, IL.

Gary L Cox, 76  of Townsend, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Gary was born on April 22, 1947, in Ottawa, Ill., only child of Elizabeth K (Pomatto) and Luther H Cox.

Clyde Smith, formerly of McLeansboro

Clyde Everett Smith,  90, passed away at 9:30 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2023 at St. Andrews @ Francis Place in Eureka, Missouri.  Clyde was a resident of House Springs, Missouri and formerly a resident of McLeansboro, Ill. Clyde was born February 18, 1933 in Hamilton County, Ill. to Elbert Smith and Ella Myrtle (Goffinett) Smith.

Graveside burial services were held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Old Springer Cemetery near Blairsville.  A Military Honor Service was held by the Military Honor Team of Marion, IL and American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro, Ill. There was also a Masonic Service held by the Enfield Masonic Lodge #677 and Clyde was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Southern IL and Ainad Temple Shriners.

Delores was born July 19, 1936 in Russell, Kansas to Carroll J. Erwin and Mary Louise (Meeks) Erwin.

Larry Ray Rubenacker, “Rube,” 72 and a resident of Dahlgren, Ill., passed away at 1:45 a.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023 at White Oak Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Vernon, Ill.  Larry was born May 9, 1950 in McLeansboro, Ill. to Roman and Mildred (Glatz ) Rubenacker.

There will not be a formal service at this time.  As per Larry’s request, there will be a scattering of ashes at his lifetime home place near Piopolis at a later date.

Brenda Josephine Hoskins, 80 of McLeansboro, Ill., passed away at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at McLeansboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center,  McLeansboro. She was the first born of three children(Brenda, Judy (Webb) and Gale Beachum) to Deborah Angeline and Paul Dewain Beachum on October 26, 1942. She was a descendant of the Original Tucker clan from Dale, IL.

Winston Franz “Bill” Maxwell, 90, passed away April 12, 2023 at his home. He was born April 19, 1932 in Belleville, Illinois, the son of Edmond and Pearl Maurice (Rauschkolb) Maxwell. He was raised near the Black River in rural Williamsville, Missouri by his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Josephine (Manns) Maxwell.

Russell Lee "Russ" Dremann, 71, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Friday May 14, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.  He was born on November 29, 1949 the son of Leroy and Ruth Dremann.

Ralph Gene Hubele, 86, of Carmi passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020.  He was born on January 19, 1934, the son of Herbert and Neva (Thompson) Hubele.

Rhonda Lynn Adkins Rapp, 62, of Dahlgren, Illinois, won her victory over sickness and joined her Savior on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 3:18A a.m. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Rhonda was born December 9, 1957, to Everett and Edna (Montgomery) Adkins in Charleston, West Virginia.

Well-known Carmi businessman, Samuel L. Endicott, passed away on October 9, 2019 at the age of 96. Sam was born on January 11, 1923 to Dale and Cora (Hon) Endicott. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Martha G. Endicott.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.. Donna Louis Snyder, 74 of McLeansboro, Ill. passed away at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Hamilton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, McLeansboro. She was born on Dec. 15, 1944 in Morgantown, W.Va. to Orval Conrad and Betty (Jackson) Pride.
