Voting Steady in Enfield #4, But Overall County Turnout Low at 20.39%

March 20, 2024 by Kathy Sands

Election judges at Enfield #4 said they thought turnout was higher in this primary than what they normally see, attributing the uptick to the contested race for precinct committeeman. Incumbent committeeman and GOP chair David South was contested in this primary by local 2nd amendment proponent and spokesperson for IllinoisCarry.com Valinda Rowe, as voter numbers reached over 100 in the morning hours, ending with 208 for the day at the precinct and 22 early and mail in votes at the courthouse. At the end of the day, Rowe overtook South in a race that saw a 36.74% voter turnout. [Read more...]

Letter to the Editor: Why Darren Bailey is the Better Candidate for U.S. Congress

February 16, 2024 by Villagers Voice

Submitted by Mike and Valinda Rowe

Dear Friends,

We have been asked why we support Darren Bailey for Congress when we already have a ‘conservative’ incumbent in office, so we want to share this information with you. When our churches were closed, our schools were closed, our businesses were being crushed by the Pritzker covid mandates and business owners were in a panic about how they would survive, and how their employees would survive if the lockdown continued, we organized an “open White County” town hall meeting with Darren Bailey at the War Horse Christian School (shout out to War Horse).

We were one of the first counties to re-open and we knew Darren had our back. Right after that, he sued the Governor! He was willing to put himself on the line and fight for us. We need that in Washington. We need someone on fire to fight for our rights and he has proven to be that man! Just look at his recent videos challenging the new gun ban! [Read more...]
