On 03/11/25 at 17:21 hours, the White County Sheriff's Department along with White County ambulance was responding to an report of a juvenile being injured in an ATV accident near Phillipstown. While enroute, a Deputy's vehicle collided with another driver on the roadway on IL Route 1 at approximately County Road 1500 East. After the collision, the Deputy lost control of the vehicle hitting the culvert on County Road 1500 East and went airborne. The Deputy's vehicle then rolled multiple times before coming to a full rest.
Upon arrival of EMS and other units from the White County Sheriff's Department Carmi Police Department and Norris City Police Department, the Deputy was observed with multiple abrasions but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle and the juvenile passenger were uninjured at the time of the accident but were very shaken up. The Deputy was taken to Deaconess Hospital for evaluation. Illinois State Police was called for a crash report.
Sheriff Weiss was contacted by family of the Deputy and was told he had a fractured collarbone but was being released from the hospital.
