LOUISVILLE…State Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) is reminding local teachers about the transportation grants available for 4th through 12th grade students in Illinois to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) in the capitol city of Springfield. The grants can be up to $1,500 and must be applied for by October 15th and be used between January 2 through December 21, 2020.
“These grants are intended for our teachers and schools who may need a little financial help to make a field trip to the Lincoln Library and Museum possible,” said Rep. Darren Bailey. “This Presidential Museum is a great opportunity for students to see documents, photographs and other materials first-hand to help bring our history to life and compliment what they learn from books.”
With the generous support from the Winnick Family Foundation, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation provides grant funding for field trips to the ALPLM for grades 4-12. Grants cover transportation costs for public and private schools with a low-income enrollment of greater than 30 percent. Students will be able to learn about Abraham Lincoln’s life, times, and legacy, as well as issues that have changed the course of Illinois and American history.
