Over the past several weeks, the Sheriffs Department has received multiple reports of stolen all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), utility task vehicles (UTVs), and lawn mowers throughout the county. In several instances, these vehicles were left with keys in the ignition, stored in unsecured buildings, or parked in open areas.
Investigators are actively pursuing all leads and working diligently to locate and recover the stolen property. These investigations arc ongoing and may require additional time to resolve.
The Sheriffs Department strongly urges all residents to take the following preventive measures:
- Remove keys from all vehicles and equipment when not in use.
- Store equipment in locked and secured locations whenever possible.
- Consider installing exterior security cameras or surveillance systems to deter criminal activity and assist law enforcement in the event of a theft.
If you would like recommendations regarding reliable camera systems or other security measures, please contact our office for assistance.
Anyone with information related to these thefts is encouraged to contact the White County Sherifrs Department at 618-382-5321.
At this time, specific information and descriptions of the stolen property will not be released, as these matters remain part of active investigations.
The Sheriff's Department appreciates the community's cooperation and continued efforts to maintain the safety and security of our county.
