The main topics of discussion at last night’s NCOE board meeting was the new levy and the sale of $3.2 million in bonds. The tax levy will get a final approval in December. With the increasing EAVs White County is experiencing, the 4.99% levy increase would actually drop the district’s tax rate from 3.24% to 3.04%, the second lowest in 26 years.
“Gallatin was 4.11%. Carmi’s rate dropped significantly because their EAV dropped it to 3.1%. Saline County schools and Carrier Mills are at 4.38%; Eldorado is 3.79%, Galatia at 4.69%. Hamilton County is trying to keep theirs steady at 3.5%,” Superintendent Matt Vollman stated.
