Following dinner, Mr. Gillum Ferguson from Harrisburg will present White County in The War of 1812, using excerpts from his book, “Illinois in the War of 1812.” Mr. Ferguson will feature Daniel Boultinghouse, William McHenry, and Willis Hargrave, White County militia leaders in the war, the latter of which were also White County’s two representatives to the State Constitutional Convention in 1818.
The meetings are always open to the general public with reservations, and the Society is always accepting new membership. With four museums and numerous activities to maintain, dues and donations are always needed. A reservation means that the Historical Society is required to pay the caterer who prepares the food, and you are expected to pay even if you do not attend.
