On the evening of Thursday March 6, 2025, Carmi Police conducted a joint detail with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission on alcohol sales compliance with the established liquor license holders in the City of Carmi. During that detail six businesses were cited after employees sold alcoholic beverages to underage persons. As a result, the businesses were cited by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission for State Statute violations and the employees were cited by Carmi Police under city ordinance statute. Those businesses in violation included Mr. Jalapenos, Tequilas, Casey's, American Legion, Pundrakes, and Danny's.
