After reviewing the FY26 school budget at last night's CWC FY26 budget hearing, Superintendent Jarrod Newell addressed the board:
"I would say, with this budget being like this, just looking ahead into the future. The message that districts are receiving right now is that federal and state funding, which we have seen this year, will also continue to see reductions and be uncertain moving into the future. Meaning, that planning is going to be vital over the next couple years. Some examples...with state future funding being uncertain...Evidence Based Funding, which is where the majority of our state money comes from, this year, CWC moved from a Tier one school to a Tier two school. That resulted in only getting $89,560 for this new year, which was a 54% or $106,361 decrease from what we received last year in EBF money.
