Superintendent Matt Vollman opened the meeting Wednesday night by recognizing the 20 years of NCOE school board service by Dr. David Joe Lane. The board enjoyed pizza and gave Lane a banner that said, “No Stress Nation.”
“I want to thank Dr. Joe Lane for his 20 years of service on the board. It’s quite remarkable to be on anything for 20 years, let alone the school board and unpaid school board, and just your time, your talent, your treasure that you provided to the board and the school district has been unmatched. And I just want to say thank you. And for 10 years, you've had to deal with me, so that's worth a lot there. So I can honestly say, probably the biggest compliment I can give to you, Joe, is you've had to make a lot of tough decisions along the way, and you've always put the interest of the school district first, and that's above personal interest,” Vollman remarked. Lane did not run for re-election in this year's consolidated elections.
