U.S. Congressman (IL-12) Mike Bost was in the area on Tuesday this week. Bost has been on a tour of southern Illinois to talk to voters about the benefits to this area of President Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" that was recently passed. Bost supported the bill which made the 2017 tax cuts permanent to help lower income citizens. Bost had three stops in the immediate area: SIC in Harrisburg, and two places in McLeansboro. He met with county officials at the Hamilton County courthouse. A small company of constituents also attended. The tour started last week and continues into next week.
Bost was peppered with questions on inflation and economic policies, Medicaid and work policies, Medicaid and rural hospitals, social media communications, energy infrastructure and deregulation, the power grid and power prices, and the issues of dealing with nuclear waste. One man commended improvements by the administration on Middle East issues.
Bost's tour continues this week into next week with stops in O'Fallon, Belleville. Breese, Nashville, Marion County, Murphysboro, Marion, and Golconda. At each stop on the tour, the Congressman plan to discuss a different aspect of the "Big, Beautiful Bill."
