As a part of White County for 75 years, the White County SWCD wants to remind you that each of us has a connection to natural resources. The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is celebrating the 66th year of Stewardship week April 25 – May 2, 2021. The 2021 Stewardship Week focuses on “Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities”
Did you know that forests are called the lungs of the planet? They are a factory for producing oxygen and many other very important natural resources. Forests provide clean air; prevent soil erosion; house millions of species of plants, animals and insects; and provide beautiful scenery for relaxation and solitude. A healthy, sustainable forest requires the help of trained professionals, and forests need caretakers and stewards to nurture them and educate the next generation of adventurers on how to best care for and conserve forests for the future.
