NCOE Staff and Community,
Many of you are aware that on Monday, the Illinois State Board of Education released guidance for schools to return for the 2020-21 school year.
NCOE is committed to returning students to in-person learning while taking health and safety measures seriously to help protect all students and staff upon returning to school. We truly believe that in-person instruction is the best form of education a student can receive. As of right now, we do not have all the answers to the details set forth in the guidance document and how that will look like in terms of scheduling, transportation, protective equipment, social distancing, etc. This will take much planning and preparation. This is a challenge and normal procedures and scheduling may look different than what we have been accustomed to. Therefore, we ask for your patience as our administration and staff thoroughly review all details and implement this into our district's transition plan. We are diligently working to comply with the standards set forth by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
We hope to have more specific details about these plans in the next few weeks. I am aware of all the health, safety, and procedural concerns that many of you may have; and we are diligently working through these issues in an effort to comply the best we can in order to ensure a healthy and safe return to school.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding, as we have been through a very unprecedented time that none of us could have imagined!
