May 19, 2022 by Kathy Sands

Three women were flown to regional hospitals with non life-threatening but serious injuries yesterday evening after the vehicles they were traveling in collided at the intersection of U.S. 45 and Rte. 141 just outside Norris City.

The preliminary investigation from the ISP indicates that 20 year old Alexia Taborn from DeSoto, Ill. was traveling west on IL Rte 141 in a 2008 Pontiac G6 approaching the intersection with U.S. 45 and failed to stop at the intersection. Forty-three year old Brandy Devous from Harrisburg was southbound on U.S. 45 driving a 2014 Volkswagen Passat and was struck by Taborn, who was accompanied by 18-year old Gracie Dowdy from Elkville, IL. All three were life flighted to regional hospitals.

Taborn was cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign and for Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.

Omaha Fire Department, Deaconess EMS, Gallatin Co. Sheriff’s Dept.,White Co. Sheriff’s Dept., and Illinois State Police all responded to the scene.
