Upgrade to Sound System and Lighting Under Consideration for High School Auditorium
High school teacher Mrs. Humphries gave a report to the NCOE board on Wednesday night about upgrading the sound system in the high school auditorium, including the amplifier, speakers and stage lighting. New Members Head to White County Local School Boards
Local school boards saw increased interest in participation this spring as the public became more aware of school and government issues. The Covid lockdowns and masking of children in the schools caused higher attendance at school board meetings as there was disagreement with the governor's executive orders. The Carmi White County school district had five seats to be filled, one of them an unexpired two year term. All of the others were four year terms. Ten candidates vied for the five seats. Vehicle Bids Opened, Mowing Bid Accepted at NCOE Board
Johnson Trucking was the highest bidder out of two bids for three buses, two vans and a Suburban that had been put up for bid by the NCOE school district. Johnson’s bid was $6,000.00 for all six vehicles.
The board also gave its approval to a mowing bid from Tracy Russell for the school properties. His bids were $425.00 for the grade school and $450.00 for the high school per mowing. Last year the cost for mowing the District’s properties was $11,000.00. [Read more...]
“Our Miss Brooks” Runs Two Nights at NCOE High School

With a large cast of characters and the involvement of a band, spotlight assistance, set designers, artwork, construction assistance and choreography, the high school team at NCOE entertained the public with comedy and song on both Friday and Saturday nights. [Read more...]
NCOE High School Drama Club Presents “Our Miss Brooks”
The NCOE Drama Club will present "Our Miss Brooks" on March 10-11, 2023 at 7 p.m. both nights at the NCOE High School Auditorium.
"Our Miss Brooks" is a musical comedy, directed by Marsha Humphrey, with musical direction by Greg Neff. The lyrics are by David Rogers, music by Mark Bucci and the book is by Christopher Sergel. It is adapted from the original material of R.J. Mann. [Read more...]
