MCLEANSBORO, IL NOVEMBER 8, 2025 – Hamilton County GOP Central Committee hosted a MEGA Meet the Candidates Dinner at the Red Barn event center in McLeansboro, IL on November 8th.
More than a dozen candidates took this opportunity to meet the public and expound on their qualifications for office. Candidates such as Ted Dabrowski and Darren Bailey’s representative Chuck Depriest spoke about the need to oust Governor JB Pritzer, and abolish his left leaning policies. Both state and local candidates outlined their visions and campaign strategies going forward to the March 17, 2026 election.
District 116 State Representative incumbent David Severin argued for yet another term, his sixth, even though he had signed a pledge in his early campaign to honor term limits. This prompted a stern response from newcomer and GOP firebrand Angela Evans to point out the lack of results of his past and current terms, and his apparent lack of pushback against the Democratic leadership in Springfield.
“I’m really tired of hearing about how Severin can’t get anything done because he’s in the super-minority. He seems to vote more in line with the Democrats than against them.” Evans said. She further outlined her platform and plans to push back against the Springfield Democrats that have kept Illinois floundering during the past eight years.
“I will never vote for raising Illinois taxes. I am PRO-Life, PRO-2nd Amendment, PRO-Military. My husband is an Army veteran, and we are a military family. I back the blue and support immigration law and Law Enforcement. I will not cave to the pressures of Springfield Democrats because my faith in God gives me strength to fight for my constituents.”
