The White County board has several times recently tabled a request from Invenergy's Boomtown Solar project which is currently under construction in northern White County. Invenergy is asking the county to agree to accept a letter of credit rather than a decommissioning bond. Both are methods that, should the project ever end, guarantee that the leased properties will be cleaned up from the project. The decommissioning bond is from an insurance company and the letter of credit comes from a bank. The solar ordinance of record in White County states that the county would accept either one. Dustin Harmon of Bellwether went over the details with the board and agreed that both methods are contingent on the value of the company at the time of any claim which would be several years in the future.
