The Indian Creek Township board last Wednesday night gave praise to the Indian Creek cemetery staff for the excellent maintenance of the cemetery grounds for the return of Corporal Jackie Thurman in July. Cpl. Thurman disappeared in Korea in 1950 during the war and his remains had not been identified until recently. Cpl. Thurman was brought back to White County for interment with a law enforcement and military escort from St. Louis airport. It was noted that flags were placed everywhere along the cemetery route. A participant flew his drone over the area after the ceremony to capture images of the event. He plans to share those photos with cemetery workers and a local Civil War reenactment group.
