July 10, 2021 by Kathy Sands

An accident on Illinois Route 14 west of County Road 700 East, in White County yesterday afternoon, July 9, 2021 took one man to the hospital with serious injuries. Ronald L. Lamp, 70 of Carmi was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a white Ford 150 truck driven by Michael S. Jodon, 42, of Carmi. A preliminary investigation shows that Lamp was traveling westbound on Rte 14 driving a 1984 red Case tractor around 4:34 in the afternoon and was attempting to turn off the roadway. Lamp and the tractor was followed by another vehicle with Jodon in the truck behind that vehicle. Jodon was attempting to pass the other vehicle and the tractor when he struck the tractor.

Jodon was cited for Improper Passing and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
