Last Saturday, Katelyn Welch, 25, and Jeffrey Sturgal, 59, both of Carmi, were involved in a Domestic Battery incident. The 59 year old was stabbed in the arm with a screwdriver by Welch. She was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. No information was given about what provoked the incident.
James C. Wiggins of Carmi reported the theft of various Ryobi tools from 202A Olive Street on March 27 between 11 a.m. and noon.
A traffic stop was initiated Sunday morning after a reckless driver, southbound from Crossville to Carmi, was reported. Carmi Police observed the vehicle cross the center lane in front of the Dairy Queen in Carmi and stopped the vehicle in the parking lot. Upon approach, the officer smelled raw cannabis coming from the car. Occupants were removed and detained upon a search of the vehicle which netted an amount of cannabis, scales and paraphernalia along with a Schedule 4 Tramadol pill. Christina Renee Karnes, 32 of Grayville, was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was additionally charged with possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. The male passenger, Roberty Clyde Raudenbush, 38 of Galatia, had two active Hamilton County warrants that he was served with, in addition to new charges of possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. Both were transported to the City/County Jail.
