Ag producers and landowners are encouraged by the White County SWCD and NRCS to apply for the Conservation Stewardship Program. The NRCS application deadline for CSP is this Friday, February 2, 2024. Whether you are seeking to improve or diversify current conservation systems already in place or install new practices altogether, the program provides multiple avenues and activities for enrollment. Upon a successful application and finalized conservation plan, the program will provide annual payments for the installation and maintenance of conservation practices.
CSP is for working lands including cropland, pastureland, and nonindustrial private forest land. CSP helps agricultural and forestland producers build on existing conservation efforts while strengthening their entire operation. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding is reserved for Climate-Smart practices and enhancements that provide a benefit to the environment as well as addressing a producer’s resource concerns.
White County SWCD and NRCS can provide any additional information you may need along with application assistance and consultation. Please contact the NRCS/SWCD office at 618-382-2213, Ext. 3, to apply or for further information. All eligible applications submitted by Friday will be considered for the first round of 2024 funding.
