At Thursday’s meeting of the Carmi Rotary club, the next district governor, Robin Dean of the Mt. Carmel club was on hand to give the Rotarians a sneak peek into her upcoming year.
Robin told the Carmi club that she had recently attended the International Rotary meeting, and came away energized and ready to take on the role of DG.
She met the upcoming Rotary International president, who this next year will be a US president from the state of Pennsylvania. The theme for the 2024-2025 year will be “The Magic of Rotary”.
In club business, plans are under way for two of the club’s biggest events; the chili sale and the Spring Trivia.
The chili sale will be held on Friday, March 1, and as in year’s past, it will be a drive-through event at the parking lot of Oak Street Chiropractic. More details will follow, but make plans right now to skip cooking that night and enjoy some delicious Rotary chili.
On Saturday, March 9, the Carmi club will host its biggest fundraiser of the year, when they hold the Spring Trivia contest. The event will take place at the American Legion on Oak Street, starting at 6:00pm sharp. Teams can be made up of any four folks who would like to try their skill. Questions will be pulled from such topics as: history, the Bible, pop culture, food, and many more. The cost for a four-person team is only forty dollars, and there will be cash prizes awarded to the top three teams.
The Carmi Rotary club normally meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church on
Main Street in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this civic organization is welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
