Carmi city officials remain under public scrutiny as 40 plus residents filled the city chambers on Tuesday night. The meeting was preceded by a public hearing. where Jim Brown of Brown and Roberts engineering informed the public that the city intended to apply for an Open Spaces Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the Department of Natural Resources. The grant, in the amount of $620,000, would provide revenue for upgrades at Bradshaw Park, which includes rehabbing the existing tennis courts with new electrical service and marking, new goals at the basketball court, and children's playground equipment. The grant will give the city 90% of the projected amount.
A disabled veteran in attendance recommended the board consider moving the meeting to a larger place to accommodate more people. He pointed to the lack of seating.The Mayor agreed to look into that.
