Norris City business owner Mike Ray, along with his son Brian, who is the current owner of The Wonder Market, spoke to the Village board last night before they went into closed session. The session’s purpose was to consider a draft ordinance to take bids for the Wakeford house property on North Division, and to consider employee raises. It was reported that the Dollar General store made the Village an offer of $50,000.00 for the Wakeford property, but the Village is required to take bids for it. The draft ordinance passed last night will require bidding to start at the $50,000 level and the bidder must also submit sales tax proposals and its impact on the public. The Wakeford property previously had a sales contract on it, but a clear title could not be obtained at the time and the contract was withdrawn.
