
Representative Darren Bailey (center) of the 109th District will be heading back to court soon in Clay County to challenge JB Pritzker's authority to issue continuing quarantines in the state.
Today in Clay County Court, Thomas DeVore, Attorney for Darren Bailey, filed a Verified Petition for Adjudication of Indirect Civil Contempt against J.B. Pritzker, Governor of Illinois. The decision of the Clay County Judge Michael McHaney on July 2, 2020 found that the governor no longer had any executive order authority with regards to the Covid-19 crisis. He has continued to declare them anyway, disregarding the judge's decision.An accompanying Order to Show Cause directs the Governor to appear in Clay County Court to answer the contempt charges on a date not yet set. The order states his failure to appear may result in a warrant for his arrest.
