The 5th Grade Jr. Cards would once again return to Wayne City Monday evening to wrap up their 2019 campaign. This time they would be taking on Bluford. Following a heartbreaking lose to Woodlawn the day before, the Jr. Cards were in hopes of ending the season on a positive note. This, however, was not the plans of their opponent as they too were in hopes of finishing the year on a winning note.
When action began, the Jr. Cardinals found offense a real struggle as they were not able to score a point in the first quarter of play. This, along with an impressive offensive start by Bluford found the Jr. Cards trailing 10-0 after the first quarter of play. NCOE managed to pick up their defense in the second frame as they held Bluford to just five points. The Jr. Cards would manage to score three points of their own to trail 15-3 as halftime arrived.
Following intermission, the NCOE offense picked up the pace a little bit and managed to add five more points to their total but Bluford would also pick their offense up and post nine more points to their total leaving the Jr. Cards trailing by 16 points heading into the final stanza. This fourth and final quarter would find the Jr. Cards outscoring their opponent 6-5 but this was too little too late as they fell by the final score of 29-14.
Leading the scoring for NCOE was Max Riggs with six points. Others scoring for the Jr. Cards were Caden Sexton four points, Kamden Myatt two points, and Owen Russell two points.
