The White County CEO class has been moving forward in January with their business fundraising idea. They are holding a “Shop Local” themed event, where the businesses in the White County community are in the spotlight.
Saturday’s event will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Floral Hall with an Italian Bar, put together by Carmi’s very own Yesterday’s. From there, it will progress to an evening of playing a personalized “White Countyopoly” game created by the class itself!
Each “street” on the board has been sold to CEO investors located in White County. The banks and the jailhouse will be secretly involved as well! During the event, a silent auction of baskets containing items from local shops and business locations will occur. Carmi native Scott Wylie will be the MC for the entire occasion.
Twenty percent of the capital collected will be invested back into the community by donation to a non-profit of the class’ choosing. The rest of it will be invested back into the students when they begin to create their personal businesses at the end of the year.
The class hopes that the components of their event shed light on shopping locally, as well as produce an opportunity for the class of 2019 to give back by advertisement to the businesses who have believed in them from the start.
