Two Vehicle Crash on I-64 Kills Young Evansville Man

A 26-year-old male from Evansville, IN was pronounced dead after he left the westbound lanes of I-64 at mile marker 96 in Four Mile Township of Wayne County, crossed through the center median and entered the eastbound lane, crashing head on into a tractor trailer driven by 23 year old Austin J. Howell from Joliet, Ill. Howell refused medical attention at the scene.

The deceased was driving a 2004 Chrysler Town and County van when the accident occurred and has not been named yet. Howell was driving a 2021 International truck tractor semi-trailer. The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit (TCRU) is continuing the investigation. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
