Madison County State's Attorney Thomas A. Haine released a statement on Friday from his office regarding Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's latest executive orders issued last week. See his statement below.
Following that is a statement from White County State's Attorney Denton Aud given to The Villagers' Voice.
"I'm pleased to see that the Madison County SA is following the path of the rest of the of us that took this stand last year. Nothing has changed from our previous statements. The Governor is attempting to exercise authority that his position clearly does not possess under the Illinois Constitution, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act, or Illinois Supreme Court precedent. If he did have that authority, then there would be a way of enforcing it; he knows this is true as he has failed to ever detail such manner of enforcement.
Law enforcement in White County will continue as previously stated: enforcing actual laws enacted by the People’s representatives in the law-making legislative branch, not proclamations issued via executive fiat that have no actual remedy, no enforcement mechanism, and no force of law. No one in White County should have any fear of arrest or prosecution from the governor’s latest attempts of usurpation of power.--White County SA, Denton Aud.
