A special thanks to Ranger Maddie from Rend Lake Park, who presented a program about ANTS for last week’s Summer Reading program. The children learned about the different types of ants, how an ant colony is created, and how the ants work together. The children then went outside and played a game of working together using hula hoops. It was a fun day at the library!!
Remember to join us Wednesday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m. Our program will be about how “Kindness Matters” with Phyllis Wood. The children will paint rocks and the library staff will create a Kindness Rock Garden outside for rocks to be placed to share with others.
Don’t miss the final day of Summer Reading on June 27 at 1:00 p.m.! Lori Roy will present our program and the children will meet members of our community. Join us for stories, prizes and fun! Feel free to call the library for more information @ 378-3713.
NEW BOOKS: “The Pharoah Key” by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Gideon Crew is shocked when his former employer, Eli Glinn, vanishes without a trace, and Glinn’s high-tech lab Effective Engineering Solutions shuts down seemingly overnight. Fresh off a diagnosis that gives him only months to live, Crew is contacted by one of his former coworkers at EES, Manuel Garza, who has a bead on one final treasure hinted at in EES’s final case, the long awaited translation of a centuries-old stone tablet of a previously undiscovered civilization: The Phaistos Disc. What lies at the end of the trail will either save Gideon’s life–or bring it to a sudden, shocking close.
“Cowboy Bold” by Carolyn Brown. Every summer Cade Maguire looks forward to opening his Longhorn Canyon Ranch to underprivileged city kids. But this year, he’s having no luck finding a counselor for the children, until Retta Palmer walks through his door. Flat broke after selling everything she owns to pay her father’s medical bills; Retta is thrilled to hear of an opening for a counselor position. She’s not as thrilled about the ranching part, or the sexy cowboy with beautiful blue eyes who’s her new boss. After being left at the altar two years before by his fiancée, Cade isn’t sure he can take another heartbreak. And Retta isn’t even sure she wants to stay. But the sparks between them are absolutely undeniable. And with a couple of lovable kids and two elderly folks playing matchmaker, Cade and Retta may find that the best way to heal is with each other.
“The President is Missing”by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. As enemies plan an unprecedented attack on American soil, Washington confronts a threat so huge that it jeopardizes not just Pennsylvania Avenue and Wall Street, but all of America. “The Outsider” by Stephen King. An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens, Terry Maitland — Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. As the investigation expands, horrifying answers begin to emerge.
