A detail was conducted early this morning, January 15, 2020, involving officers of the White County Sheriff's Office, Carmi Police Department and the Southern Illinois Drug task force.
The White County Sheriff’s office was called on Saturday with a report of an unknown truck parked on the farm property of Mike Barbre at 1200E and 2040 N., Carmi.
An accident west of Norris City on the Dale Blacktop (700 N.) took a pregnant Carmi woman and her child to the hospital and blocked the road for a time last Friday morning, August 23. Valerie Owen of Carmi, was westbound on the blacktop when she hydroplaned and put her 2012 White GMC in a ditch. Chad Mitsdarffer of McLeansboro came on the scene and helped the woman out of her car , along with the child before anyone else arrived. The White County Sheriff responded to the scene, along with NC police and first responders. The White County Ambulance also responded and transported Owen to an area hospital. S & E towed the vehicle and the woman’s injuries were considered non-life threatening.
The White County Sheriff's Office made two arrests yesterday in connection with two oilfield thefts and a burglary at Union Ridge Cemetery.
Sgt Craig Poole was following up with investigation of the burglary at Union Ridge Cemetery when a Crime Stopper tip led the investigation to New Haven in Gallatin County. Sgt Pool met with Sheriff Doug Maier and Gallatin County Sheriff Shannon Bradley.
The White County Sheriff’s office is reporting 77 inmates in the jail for the month of July, 2019, with 25 from White County and 52 from out of the county. The Jail had revenues of $86, 302.98 for the month. Calls for service totaled 446. White County Dispatch handled 1,391 calls for service with 46,565 phone calls year-to-date to the Dispatch center.
The inmates’ recreation area is completed at the rear of the jail with the total expense for it paid from commissary funds.
