The Illinois State Police (ISP) have released a preliminary investigation report showing that Thurman O. Terrell, 75-year-old male from Ridgway, driving northbound on the Shawneetown New Haven Road on the morning of July 20, failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 141 and struck the trailer of a 2023 Black Peterbilt Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination driven by Johnathan M. Campbell, a 30-year-old man from Carmi. Terrell was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries, while Campbell claimed no injuries at the scene. Terrell was cited for Disobeyed Stop Sign and Driver Required to Wear Seatbelt.  There is no further information available.
