Indian Creek Township is composed of good, moral, loving citizens. Well, mostly. A few need a good spanking, but mostly people are pretty good. I’m here to testify they deserve better.

I’ve been running all around the internet virtual highways and byways screaming, “The sky is falling.” You might say I’ve been crying “wolf”. Unlike the fable about the geezer who cried wolf, there is really danger here. We have to eradicate the danger and prevent it from coming back. Number of Filings Show Interest in Local School Board Representation

In the middle of the November 8 General Election season, a second election season was starting up at the same time: that being local elections. Candidates for the 2023 Consolidated election started picking up petitions in September to begin gathering signatures for local school board races, as well as other local races. The three school district races in White County are attracting several new candidates in each. Nine more candidates submitted filings since The Villagers' Voice report from last Thursday. “A report has surfaced that a resident with long term dementia was recently registered to vote at Wabash Christian Village.  The witness stated that two people approached her mother, who she says can’t remember what she had for breakfast.  One of the women who approached the resident about voting was reportedly an activities director at the nursing home and the other woman was unknown to the witness.” [Read more...]

I tell this story all of the time. It resonates with me and I think we all need to understand it.

Long ago and far away, I learned a valuable lesson. I attended the “New Testament Baptist Church” in Cahokia, Illinois. Old timers referred to the church as “Hard Shell Baptist”. They were strict on themselves, and others. They were the don’t dance, don’t laugh, don’t have fun, guilt ridden church in a dying community. The pastor, Jeff, was young and full of energy and judgment. He could shame a woman for wearing pants while making us all feel the flames of hell. Pastor Jeff was a force of nature. [Read more...]

Updated: Primary Election Irregularities Found in Indian Creek Township Results

September 14 update to this report: After looking over the primary election results more closely, it was found that the actual number of votes lost through uncorrected over voting was 794 in the Indian Creek polling location on one ballot-counting machine. The entire county recorded 803 of such over votes. Both Democrats and Republicans lost votes, but the Republican votes lost were 10 times the number of the Democrat votes lost. It is not known at this time why the machine identified so many over votes and why the ballots were not corrected by Indian Creek voters.

While most White County precinct voting results appear to have experienced nothing unusual in the June 28 primary election, two precincts in the county stand way out in comparison. The unofficial White County election results demonstrate there was a lot of over voted ballots only in Indian Creek precincts #6 and #8, specifically in the U.S. Senate race where there were six candidates, the White County Sheriff’s race and the County Board #2 race. There were also a high number of over voted ballots cast in the Fifth Appellate judicial race. [Read more...]

Politics suck. I learned that as a child. I was supposed to learn to accept it, among other things, as I matured. I guess I never matured.

So, I got a guy named Bailey. This guy has been to my house a few times. He’s a good guy, in my estimation.

Anyway, several years ago this Bailey guy was running for something or other. A friend asked to put his sign in my yard and I said yes. You don’t have to mow around signs, which equals less work for me. I like them. [Read more...]

Primary Election Day Nears

The  2022 Illinois Primary Election will be held on June 28. Because of the problems with redistricting the state, the primary election was delayed much later than usual. Early voting begins on May 19 in this election season. Vote by mail ballots will also be going out from the County Clerk's office for those who have requested them. Vote by mail applications are being accepted now until June 23. Candidates are making the rounds in their new districts and everyone in White County is in a new representative and senate district, as well as a new U.S. congressional district. White County is now in the 12th Congressional District, currently with Mike Bost (R) as the Congressional representative. He has no challenger in the primary election. The 12th district consists of all or parts of 33 counties in the southern Illinois area. [Read more...]
