Mark your calendars for the Norris City Library Gardeners Spring Fling May 14th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Spring Fling with be held outside on the library grounds (weather permitting). Did you know that Norris City Library Gardeners have a seed library at the Norris City Library? It’s located in a corner of the library’s community room. There is a ton of new seed packages shared with us by the Extension office at Carmi. There are flowers, beans, corn, squash, lettuce, pumpkins, cabbage, spinach, kale, herbs...too many to name. All are free and you do not need to have a library card to participate.

The Norris City Library Gardeners are busy planning a big event for May 14th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Their third Norris City Library Gardeners Spring Fling is coming up soon. Thank you to Mrs. Douglass, Mrs. Karns, Mr. Payne, and Mrs. Gregory for bringing the NCOE fourth grade to the library to research their project. We really enjoyed the opportunity to introduce the students to the library and to help them with their research. All NCOE students (and residents of the NCOE school district) qualify for a free library card that gives them access to the Norris City Library, the Illinois Heartland Library System, and the Cloud Library’s eResources. Join Master Gardener Deanna Dyer, Milly Pate, and the Norris City Library Gardeners for a program on “Herb Gardening” on April 16th at 5:00 pm. Herbs are low-maintenance plants that give you harvests almost immediately after planting. They don't require a ton of sunlight or nutrients to grow, and they will grow in whatever limited space you give them or stretch out beautifully into a large space like the corner of a raised bed. The Library Gardeners are planning their first Ladies’ Afternoon Tea on Tuesday, March 19th @ 2:00 pm. Deanna Dyer, Master Gardener from Carmi, will also present the program, “The Language of Flowers”. The tea is a free event of the Norris City Library Gardeners.
