Hundreds of students, family and friend, along with Southeastern Illinois College faculty and staff, converged to celebrate academic and extra-curricular achievements of the student body during SIC’s Awards Luncheon held Monday, April 29, and SIC’s Scholarship Night held Tuesday, April 30, in the Harry L. Crisp Student Center Cafeteria and Heritage Room. Awards for students from the area are as follows.
Phi Theta Kappa honor society members from this area who were honored was Jenn’na Wurst (vice president) of Norris City. Jenn’na also received a Student Ambassador Service Award.
Art students were invited to submit work in the Southern Illinois Intercollegiate Art Competition. One of the winners from the competition who were recognized was Rachel Russell of Norris City.
EmmaLee Pruitt of Norris City accepted the Outstanding Business Student Award from Kelsie Bond, Business Instructor.
Lexie Money of Norris City was awarded one of two Jaylynn Ferrell Memorial Scholarships by Patti Ferrell. The scholarship was created in honor of DJ and Patti Ferrell’s daughter, a 2011 graduate of the SIC nursing program and registered nurse (RN) at Harrisburg Medical Center, whose life was taken in the Leap Day Tornado.
Lexie Money also received one of two Gladys and Raymond Carroll Memorial awards presented by Brian Surprenant, SIC Foundation Chair.
