Primary Profile: White County Board District #2

May 16, 2022 by Kathy Sands

White County Board District #2 is comprised of Indian Creek and Heralds Prairie Townships. Two new candidates are vying to represent the district and there is one candidate from each township. Adam Sexton from Heralds Prairie and Amanda Cannon from Indian Creek are the candidates in the June 28 primary race for District 2.

Amanda Cannon

Hi! I’m Amanda Cannon and I’m asking for your vote for White County board in June for District 2. I’ve sold real estate in White county for over 20 years, and am currently with the Property Shop. I’ve also made my second home with the Gallatin White water district for the last 12 years.

I was raised on a farm and my dad Harold (HAS) farmed right up to his death 12 years ago. I’m a graduate of NCOE and so are my kids. Morgan went on to become a Nurse Practitioner, with my first grand baby, and she’s gorgeous. Her name is Maren Poppy Warren. Seth has a welding degree and works construction and Asa is a junior at NCOE. Having spent my whole life here, I feel like I’m a good choice to represent our little part of the county and I would like to earn your vote! Any questions? Please send them to me!

Adam Sexton

Hello, I’m Adam Sexton and I’m currently 36 years old. I’ve lived in White County for 28 years. I graduated high school at Carmi-White County in 2004. After high school I went on to Murray State University and graduated in December of 2008 with a Bachelors in Electro/Mechanical Engineering. Upon college graduation I took a full-time job with Alliance Coal in Madisonville Kentucky.

After a few short years, I got extremely home sick and moved back to White County in 2012. For the last 10 years my family and I have lived in Heralds Prairie Township, and we love the area. Currently, I’m a Sales Engineer for Minova, a company that manufactures ground control products for underground mining, and I specialize in underground coal mining. I’m also the owner/operator of Sexton Rental Property.

Enough about me, I would rather tell you about my awesome children and beautiful wife. I have a very determined 20-year-old daughter who is working and attending college, an extremely smart 5-year-old girl who can’t wait for kindergarten to start, a very energetic 3-year-old son, and another little girl on the way, who will bless us with her presence this summer. God has blessed me with an amazing wife who inspires me greatly. I believe beside every good man there is an even better woman.

The reason I’m running for county board is very simple, I want to be a steward for White County taxpayers. I’m not a “Yes Man.” I want to do what is right for White County citizens and our future generations to come. My highest qualification for the White County Board is that I’m a Christian and I operate all aspects of my life using Christian values. I’m also very experienced with stretching the dollar in my personal home, owning a small business, and managing approximately $35 million in annual sales for Minova.
