The Treasurer’s office is gearing up for the 2016 tax season payable in 2017. This year the office will roll out its system to take debit and credit card payments both online and at the counter in the Treasurer’s office. The White County website is being revamped to include a link to Gov-Tech, the credit card payment service. The Treasurer will be including notices with the real estate tax bills to announce the the White County Treasurer’s office will be accepting credit card payments.
By contracting Mail Services LLC to print, fold, sort, and mail the property tax bills, the treasurer hopes to be able to mail the Real Estate Tax bills out a month earlier this year. This means the office will be collecting taxes an extra month this year and disbursing property tax checks to the county, schools and townships.
In March 2017, the office purchased a scanner, allowing the office to scan and attach deposits in QuickBooks. This eliminates the need to pull hard copies when there are questions. It streamlines and organizes the files and will make preparations for the annual audit more efficient.
First Bank provided the Treasurer with an Enterprise Payment Solutions (EPS) scanner which allows deposits to be scanned directly into treasurer’s bank accounts without physically delivering the checks and deposits. This will be a tremendous advantage during tax season with the timely and efficient handling of the county’s deposits.
