As the state of Illinois is seeing schools all over the state this week stating their new policies for school start up this year, it appears they must be hearing from parents, as school after school announced on Facebook this week that masking would be optional for attendance at school in the 20201-22 year.
On Facebook Monday night, announcement after announcement was showing up on a timeline dedicated to pushing back on mask mandates.
This week, local White County School districts CUSD#5 and CUSD#3 have made their own pronouncement of the same policies. Masking is optional this year in these school districts.
The CDC is still recommending masking and the Illinois State Board of Education is agreeing with those recommendations. Local school districts are deciding to let the parents of their schoolchildren make that decision. Masking will be by the choice of the parent or child.
