The Lady Cardinal JV softball team was back in action Wednesday afternoon when they played host to the Galatia-Thompsonville Lady Bearcats JV team.
This game got underway with the Lady Bearcats striking for two first inning runs to claim the early lead. The Lady Cardinals would retaliate with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to claim their first lead of the game at 4-2. This score would stand until the bottom of the third inning when the Lady Cardinals were able to stretch their advantage to 10 runs when they crossed the plate eight times. The Lady Bearcats came alive in the top of the fourth inning as well as they scored four runs to narrow the NCOE lead to six runs. Although the Lady Cardinals did not have as big of an inning as they did in the third inning, they were able to score six more runs to push their lead back out to 18-6. The Lady Cats would threaten in the top of the fifth inning when the leadoff batter reached base, but the NCOE defense stepped up to retire the next three batters to claim the 18-6 victory.
Madison Cox, Emma Tauiliili, and Madyson Barton led the offense with three hits a piece followed by Mattie Wells and Kenlee Cole with one each. Tauiliili led all players with five RBI’s while Barton and Cox claimed two followed by Wells, Cole, and Katie Wimer with one each. Those scoring runs for the Lady Cardinals were Emma Tauiliili (3), Madyson Barton (3), Michelle Powell (2), Sarah Wimer (2), Madison Cox (2), Erin Wicker (2), Kenlee Cole (2), and Mattie Wells (2).
Katie Wimer claimed all pitching duties as she allowed six runs (three earned) on three hits and struck out three.
