Thursday, January 31, the junior high volleyball teams were again at home to welcome New Hope. The 8th grade had to battle to complete the win and they won 25-18, 25-18. The second set was not as close as the score ended up.
“Our hitting was off, so there is room for improvement.” Melton said.
Bryant led the scoring with 15 points as Vollman followed with 10. Everett had 3 with Scroggins and Warren scoring 2 each. Barton had one.
At the net Everett finished with 9 kills. Scroggins had 5 and Vollman 4, Vollman also had 12 assists in the setter’s position. Everett had 3. One assist each was earned by Barton, Scroggins and Bryant.
Defensively, Scroggins had 3 digs as Vollman and Barton had 2. Bryant and Everett each had one and Everett also had one block. The 8th grade is now 2-0.
The 7th grade also moved to 2-0 as they won 25-6 and 25-9. In the first set the Cards got the serve at 6-6 and from there, Black took the serve and never gave it up and served 19 in row. In the second set Black again served a long series and scored 9. “Practice pays off.” Black stated.
Black led the scoring with 28 and Poole had nine. Everett had 4 and Hortin one.
At the net Allen had 3 kills with one kill each recorded by Poole and Black. Black had 3 assists with Poole and Allen having one each.
The C team again had a timed game.
Hobbs, B. Poole and Humphrey had 5 points apiece and Bishop added 3. Raymer, Howard and Mackenzie Lehmkuhler had 2 each. One point was served by Robinson and Zenner.
Offensively, McCarthy had 2 hits and one kill and Rush had one hit with a kill. Hobbs and McCarthy had one assist and Raymer and Humphrey each had a set.
