The Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 5th/6th Grade Junior Cardinals traveled to Junction Thursday evening to take on the Gallatin County Junior Hawks.
The sixth grade contest started out tight but as the first quarter came to a close the Jr.Hawks would claim the 9-6 advantage. NCOE struggled on the offensive end in the second quarter as they were only able to tally two more points. This on top of the Jr.Hawks registering 11 more points would find NCOE trailing 20-8 at the halftime break.
Following halftime, the Junior Cardinals did manage to get their offense going as they scored five points in the third stanza. However, their defense allowed 11 more points to their opponent which found the Junior Cardinals facing an 18-point deficit with just one quarter remaining. This fourth and final quarter is where the Jr. Cards offense could not find any rhythm which allowed the Jr. Hawks to outscore them 6-0 en route to handing NCOE the 37-13 loss.
Fifth grade action was all Gallatin County as they came out firing and leaving NCOE quickly trailing 16-2 following one quarter of play. This Jr. Hawk lead swelled to 24- points at intermission following a 12-2 second quarter run.
Second half action was once again all Gallatin County as they outscored NCOE 32-3 in the final two quarters of play to hand the Jr. Cards the 60-7 loss.
Leading scorer for NCOE was Tate Riggs with 11 points. Spencer Shipp was the other Junior Cardinal to score with two points.
Bryer Sauls led the team with three points followed by two a piece for Riley Pearce and Zeke Smith.
