The Jr. Cards traveled to McLeansboro for a Friday evening, March 8, match with the Lady Foxes.
“We had lost to them in their tournament, so we knew it would be a tough match,” Coach Jaclyn Melton said. It was a tough match and the Cards fell in two sets 20-25, 22-25.
The scoring was balanced with Vollman, Everett and Warren serving 4 points each, followed by Barton and Bryant with 3. Scroggins had 2 and Black one.
Everett had 13 kills with Scroggins and Vollman recording 2 each, and Bryant and Vinyard with one. Vollman had 15 assists, Bryant 2 and Barton one. Everett also led the defense with 7 digs and 2 blocks. Warren had 5 and Black 2. Bryant, Scroggins and Barton had one each. Vollman had one block.
The match left the Cards at 15-4.
The 7th grade ran into a good Hamilton County team and suffered its first loss of the season.
“It was a battle and we came close to winning the match,” Coach Cathy Black said. The Cards fell 25-12, 12-25, 14-16.
Hortin led the serving with 13 points. Black had 5 and Poole 3. Two points each were scored by Everett, Hobbs and Fulkerson.
At the net, Everett had 8 kills and Fulkerson had 4. One kill each was recorded by Poole and Allen.
Defensively, Humphrey led with 7 digs and Black followed with 4. Poole had three and Hortin 2.
The loss gave the 7th grade a 3-1 record.
There was no “C” team game.
