Hugh Swafford, Enfield

Hugh Jackson Swafford 95, of Enfield, passed away Tuesday morning March 27, 2018 at the Enfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 19, 1923 to Arthur Sterling Swafford and Letha Christian Swafford in, Etowah, Tenn. Hugh married Lova Owings and later was married to Betty Cantrell.

He joined the Civil Conservation Corps when he was 16 years old and then joined the U.S. Navy serving on a merchant ship during WWII.

Hugh is survived by 5 daughters, Brenda (David) Fields, Myra (George) Roth of Mt Vernon: Lois (Donnie) Duckworth, Cindy (JP) Williams of Enfield; and Ruth (Todd) Northdurft of Florissant Mo; 1 son, Ronnie (Elaine) Gardner; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. 2 Brothers Ronnie Plemons and John Plemons. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Joe Plemons and Chester Plemons; 2 sisters Wanda Farris and June Gavette, 2 grandchildren Michele Roth and J. Austohn Gardner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday April 9, 2018 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
