The Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinal baseball team wasted little time Tuesday afternoon in taking control of the game when they played host to the Webber Trojans. The Fighting Cardinals offense erupted for four runs in the first inning to quickly take the 4-0 advantage. The score would remain at a four run differential until the top of the third inning when the Trojans staged a small rally of their own and pushed two runs across the plate to cut into the Fighting Cardinal lead. Another run in the top of the fourth inning by Webber would find the NCOE lead shrink to just one run, 4-3. The NCOE offense got it back together in the bottom of the fifth inning when they struck for two more runs to stretch their lead back out. A huge sixth inning for the Fighting Cardinals found them pushing four more runs across the plate to extend their lead to seven runs with just three outs to collect for yet another victory. This seventh inning would find the Trojans staging yet another comeback as they managed to score two runs but the NCOE defense stepped up to record the final out before anymore damage could be done allowing the Fighting Cardinals to collect the 10-5 victory.
CJ Richardson was the top hitter for the Fighting Cardinals (6-3), as he knocked out a team high three hits in the contest. Trey Simmons, Lucas Browning, and Nathaniel Wilson followed closely with two hits a piece while Brandon Skaggs, Jack Riggs, Bryce Jolley, and Gavin Dauby each had one hit. Skaggs and Simmons led the RBI column with two each followed by Richardson, Browning, Wilson, and Dauby with one a piece. Those scoring runs for NCOE were CJ Richardson (2), Jack Riggs (2), Trey Simmons (2), Lucas Browning (1), Nathaniel Wilson (1), Bryce Jolley (1), and Gavin Dauby (1).
Starting pitcher, Wade Sauls, pitched the first three innings of the game allowing three runs on two hits and striking out four. Trey Simmons relieved Sauls to hurl the final four innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits, while striking out three.
