News Around Enfield
Another beautiful day in Enfield! As I drove to work this morning, I noticed the wild flowers along the side of the highway. Some of them look like Hollyhocks and the little blue flowers are gorgeous. I also like the big yellow sunflowers and the golden marigolds. Fall is my favorite time of the year, and I just can’t wait for it to get here. A lot of good things happen in the Fall, such as Mule Day, my birthday and pumpkins, just to name a few.
Ashland Christian Church News
It was a beautiful day at church, with 26 attending Sunday school and 95 for Worship Service, including 11 youngsters for children’s church. Charlie Cartmill opened Worship Service by welcoming everyone, including one guest. Suzanne gave the announcements and updated the prayer list. Suzanne then led the congregation in singing hymns, accompanied by Lisa Carter on the organ and Kay Carter on the piano. We sang Happy Birthday to Carroll Dozier, Charlie Cartmill, Delores Bradshaw, Clinton Willis and Vonda Bell.
Maurie Black shared a devotion “4-way Stop Sign” before communion was served. Kelsey Ambrous blessed us with a reading, and Sally Healy and Kenny Rockett sang a song his late mother, Frieda Rockett had written; they were accompanied by Lisa Carter. Pastor Braden’s Sermon was titled “God will judge, are you ready?” from ll Corinthians 5:10 and Romans 2: 1-29. It was a great day to be in the House of the Lord!!

Happy Belated Birthday to Rose Miller
On July 9, 2017 Rose Miller of Enfield celebrated her 96th birthday at her daughter Marjorie’s home in St. Louis. Her other daughter Pat Price was there, and she had total knee replacement. They stayed three weeks with Marjorie and reported she was a great nurse as she waited on them hand and foot. She is also an excellent cook. Pat is doing great with her new bionic knee. Happy Birthday to Rose Miller from everyone here in Enfield and we wish you many more!
Happy Heavenly Birthday on August 11 to J. Austohn Gardner
On Friday, May 19, 2017 God took you to your Heavenly home to live with him. Those of us left behind were saddened to see you go, but God had a plan for you. I’m thinking he needed someone to play in his Heavenly band and he knew just who to pick. Your family and friends here on earth miss you everyday and think of you often. Sharing some memories from Aunt Lois and Uncle Donnie: When you were a little boy shopping with mom and she put the wrong kind of bread in the cart and you asked her “Woman, do you see a bunny on that wrapper”? Riding with dad in the Big Oilfield Truck when we could barely see you. When they dug a big hole in our front yard and you ran out to meet us excited and said “Benny Joe dig that hole” and how nervous you were when you took Sarah to the Prom in Uncle Ronnie’s old car and it quit running and you had to push it. We have many memories, but these are just a few that we will cherish each day until we see you again. Happy Heavenly Birthday Austohn!!
Happenings around town
Pat Price reported on July 15, 2017 that she saw on Facebook where Myra Gail (Land) Beck had a new great granddaughter. Then a few days later, she posted that her husband George had passed away. Congratulations on the new granddaughter and our sympathy to Myra Gail and her family on the passing of her husband.
Thanks to Matt Sutman, the Pastor of Enfield Christian Church, for bringing the Message on” Faith” the first night of Ashland Christian Church Revival. We had a crowd of 75 people attend. It was a great message!
