Two twenty dollar bills were used for payment at Kelly’s Quick Stop last Tuesday, according to a report by Norris City Chief of Police Diana Tharp. The fraudulent paper was discovered by Banterra Bank employees after a deposit was made by Kelly’s. The bills had marks on them, supposedly to show that they had already been tested for counterfeit status. The identity of the individual has not yet been determined.
In a 2017 report found on the internet, an estimated $147 million worth of counterfeit money was circulating in the US at that time.
